Man Utd eye Garnacho-Jackson swap deal as new season start

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a high-profile player exchange this summer, involving outcast Alejandro Garnacho and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson. Both clubs are eager to reshape their squads and balance the books, with player sales seen as critical in complying with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The Red Devils, under pressure to address their scoring woes, have identified Jackson as a potential addition to their forward line. While no formal offer has yet been submitted, iNews have suggested that United are monitoring his status closely, especially given Chelsea’s growing surplus of strikers.

Despite scoring 24 goals in the Premier League across two seasons, Jackson finds himself slipping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. As a result, the Blues’ willingness to do business might increase as the transfer window progresses.

On the other side of the negotiation table, Garnacho’s situation at United has taken a sharp turn. The Argentine winger has asked to leave this summer and is currently training away from the first-team group, alongside other out-of-favour stars such as Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia. The west Londoners have not made an official approach yet, but his availability and skillset have certainly piqued their interest.

Both clubs are reportedly hoping to conduct straightforward player sales to maximise financial flexibility. United, in particular, stand to benefit significantly from selling Garnacho, an academy product, as such deals count as pure profit on the books. However, his £60 million ($80m) valuation has scared off multiple suitors, with United understood to be open to lowering their asking price to around £50m ($67m). Even that has proved too steep for most interested clubs, including Aston Villa and Tottenham, who are monitoring the situation closely.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are also looking to cash in on Jackson and have similarly placed a £60m price tag on the striker. But with squad competition growing and minutes likely to be limited, insiders believe that the Blues may be forced to reduce their demands as the window wears on.

WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA & MAN UTD?

While talks remain preliminary, momentum is building around the idea of an exchange. With Garnacho and Jackson potentially seeking new challenges and both clubs eager to streamline their squads while staying financially compliant, the proposed swap could soon become a reality.
